It can be easy to take our gatherings for granted. After all, we go through familiar patterns: songs, prayers, teaching from God's Word. We can too easily forget that what happens during gathered worship is supernatural. Church involves so much more than meets the eye.
The apostle Paul tells us to “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16 KJV
When we gather, the Holy Ghost unleashes his immeasurable power through his authoritative Word, transforming us into a people who delight more and more in the beauty of Jesus.
That is the conviction behind this year's Joy in the City Conference and Holy Convocation: Christ is Our Hope. Every moment of each service matters. It is not just the songs we choose and how faithfully we preach, but everything in between: the prayers, reading of Scripture, baptism, Lord's Supper, and even the way the whole service is shaped. The rhythms of gathered worship form a vital part of our discipleship and witness as individuals, families, and congregations.
This July and October, we invite you to join your fellow believers, from around the world, for these powerful days of singing, preaching, and rejoicing.
